Scared of the Needles? Here is an acupuncture treatment which doesn't hurt!

Looking for an acupuncture treatment which does not hurts? Then the Japanese acupuncture “Toyohari” may well be the ideal treatment for you!

What is “Toyohari”? In 1959, the blind Kodo Fukushima founded the Toyohari Medical Association. He educated hundreds of blind acupuncture practitioners in Japan. These blind practitioners developed a strong/profound sense of touch, so that they could feel the pulse and use the superficial palpation for making a diagnosis or for find where the problems occur. The most of these acupuncture techniques are “non-inserting”. That means that the needles do not pass through the skin . Treatment is therefore not aggressive, scary or invasive.

Soft and subtle

“Toyohari” acupuncture techniques are soft and subtle, and the tip of the (often blunt) needle will only touch the skin very lightly or even does not touch in some cases. In short: you almost don't notice anything. Through special trainings, practitioners mastered to feel how the energy moves in the body. This is the reason why it is not necessary for the “Toyohari” practitioners to judge if their treatments effective or not by patients' reactions against needle feeling. Due to the subtle and gentle technique(s) as mentioned above, the treatment is a very fine and relaxing experience. “Toyohari” acupuncture is focused on balancing/educing your underlying energy and to create a deep sensation of wellness.

For all ages

Children and babies can also be treated. A proper dosage of the treatment with an application of specialized “non-inserting” techniques and tools, makes this acupuncture style suitable for all ages.

Health insurance

Most of the health insurance companies reimburse the cost of the acupuncture treatments a wholly/entirely or partially, if you have a supplementary/extra package (what in Dutch called “Aanvullende verzekering”). About the therapist Fumikazu Kobayashi has Bachelor (HBO) of Science degree in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Acupuncture and additionally studied Toyohari Japanese acupuncture. He works as an acupuncturist since 2005, and currently he treats clients in Leiden and Hilversum.
